Today CBO released an interactive graphic showing the overall federal budget in fiscal year 2018 as part of its annual update of infographics on the federal budget.
For people who are not very familiar with the federal budget, it can be a challenge to find out how much the government spends and takes in each year and what programs and revenue sources account for the largest portions of those budgetary flows.
To help provide that information in an accessible format, each year CBO releases a set of four budget infographics, which offer a detailed look at the past fiscal year as well as broader trends over the past few decades. You can view the infographics for 2018 below, including the interactive version of the first one on the overall federal budget:
- The Federal Budget in 2018
- Mandatory Spending in 2018
- Discretionary Spending in 2018
