S. 2020 would amend and reauthorize the Oregon Resource Conservation Act of 1996 to authorize the appropriation of $2 million annually through 2032 for ecological restoration projects in the Deschutes River Basin in Oregon. The bill also would change the required membership of the Deschutes River Conservancy Working Group. In 2023, about $600,000 was allocated by the Department of the Interior for ecological restoration projects in the Basin.
Using historical spending patterns for similar activities, CBO estimates that implementing S. 2020 would cost $17 million over the 2024–2033 period and $1 million after 2033, assuming appropriation of the authorized amounts.
The costs of the legislation, detailed in Table 1, fall within budget function 300 (natural resources and environment).
