H.R. 1500 would require DOT to purchase certain data from public and private entities to help improve the department’s management of traffic and transportation infrastructure. DOT would be required to report to the Congress annually on those activities. Using information from the agency about similar contracting activities, CBO estimates that implementing H.R. 1500 would cost $30 million over the 2023‑2028 period, assuming appropriation of the estimated amounts.
