S. 1583 would extend the authorization of $415 million for restoration and forest management activities in the Lake Tahoe Basin through 2034. Under current law, that authorization will expire at the end of fiscal year 2024. CBO estimates that enacting S. 1583 would not affect direct spending or revenues. CBO cannot determine the amount of funding the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service would need to implement the extended authorities; thus, CBO has not estimated the bill's discretionary costs. The bill contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act.
