S. 2158 would reauthorize the Cape Cod National Seashore Advisory Commission until September 26, 2029. The commission’s previous authority to operate expired on September 26, 2018. The bill also would allow the Secretary of the Interior to issue permits for commercial, industrial, and recreational activity without the advice of the commission.
Based on the historical cost of operating the commission, CBO estimates that it would cost the National Park Service less than $500,000 to maintain the commission through fiscal year 2029. Any spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
