H.R. 2385 would require the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to conduct a study on women who were involuntarily separated or discharged from the military between 1951 and 1976 because of pregnancy or parenthood. The bill would require GAO to recommend ways that the Department of Veterans Affairs could improve access to resources for those women. The bill also would require GAO to report to the Congress on its findings of the study. Using information about costs for similar studies and reports, CBO estimates that satisfying that requirement would cost $1 million over the 2022-2026 period. Such spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
