In CBO’s projections of the outlook under current law, deficits remain large by historical standards, federal debt grows to 98 percent of GDP by 2030, and the economy expands at an average annual rate of 1.7 percent from 2021 to 2030.

Corrections and Updates

CBO has corrected this report since its original publication. Corrections are listed at the end of the report.

On February 4, 2020, CBO reposted the files of 10-year economic projections, 10-year budget projections, and historical economic data, as well as the file of baseline projections for USDA mandatory farm programs, with corrected values. On February 6, 2020, CBO reposted the file of revenue projections with a new table and some corrected values. None of those corrections affect any numbers shown in the report. On February 20, 2020, CBO reposted the file of baseline projections for the Pell Grant Program with a corrected value on page 2. On May 5, 2020, CBO reposted the file of long-term budget projections to add some supplemental tables. On October 15, 2020, CBO reposted the file of long-term budget projections with some corrected values. None of those corrections affect any numbers shown in the report.
