Over the past few months, I have discussed CBO's work, its mission, and the U.S. economy with students, military leaders, economists, and researchers at several events. I look forward to having another such conversation in Minneapolis next week.
On July 22, I gave a presentation to students participating in the American Economic Association's Summer Training and Scholarship Program at American University.
September brought two opportunities to discuss CBO's work and the economy. On September 16, I taught a session at the National Defense University titled "A Strategic View of the U.S. Economy." On September 24, I addressed economists at the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity conference about CBO's role, its mission, and its efforts to produce comprehensive analysis.
Next Thursday, October 8, I will join Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis President Neel Kashkari for a conversation at the Opportunity & Inclusive Growth Institute's 2026 Research Conference in Minneapolis.
Such engagements provide opportunities to explain CBO's work, answer questions about its analyses, and hear from people who use them. I look forward to continuing those conversations in the months ahead.
Phillip L. Swagel is CBO's Director.
