S. 3720 would direct the Secretary of the Interior to study the feasibility of designating the 550-mile Bay Area Ridge Trail system in the state of California as a national scenic trail.
Using information on the cost of similar studies, CBO estimates that implementing the bill would cost less than $500,000 over the 2026-2031 period. Any related spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
The CBO staff contact for this estimate is David Rafferty. The estimate was reviewed by H. Samuel Papenfuss, Deputy Director of Budget Analysis.
