S. 3018 would require the Department of Defense and the Department of State to permit members of Taiwan’s Armed Forces and representatives of Taiwan or the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office to display the flag of Taiwan and the emblems and insignia of their military units during official functions with the departments and when appearing on the departments’ social media.
CBO estimates that the administrative actions necessary to implement the bill would cost less than $500,000 over the 2026-2031 period. Such spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
