CBO's 2026 Long-Term Projections for Social Security
Report
In CBO's projections, the gap between Social Security's outlays and revenues generally widens over the next 75 years, and the balance of the Old-Age and Survivors Insurance Trust Fund is exhausted in fiscal year 2032.
Each year, CBO publishes its projections of what revenues and outlays for the Social Security program would be for the next 75 years if current laws generally remained unchanged. This workbook includes the latest of those projections. They are consistent with the projections in The Long-Term Budget Outlook Data: 2026 to 2056.
