H.R. 3553 would direct the Department of Agriculture to report to the Congress on the effectiveness of wildfire mitigation methods available to the Forest Service to reduce wildfire risk and the severity of wildfire damage in communities within or adjacent to shrubland ecosystems.
Using information about the cost of similar reports, CBO estimates that implementing H.R. 3553 would cost less than $500,000 over the 2026-2031 period. Any related spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
