Summary
H.R. 5265 would require the Small Business Administration (SBA) to prepare annual reports on the performance of the Office of Rural Affairs and a one-time report on the Memorandum of Understanding between the SBA and the Department of Agriculture about joint efforts to promote businesses and agricultural economies in rural areas. The bill would require the SBA to publish those reports on its website and include them in the agency’s annual budget materials.
According to the SBA, it already collects the data required for both reports. On that basis, CBO estimates that the cost to implement H.R. 5265 would be insignificant; any spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
