H.R. 1159, A bill to amend the Taiwan Assurance Act of 2020 to require periodic reviews and updated reports relating to the Department of State’s Taiwan Guidelines
Cost Estimate
As ordered reported by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs on February 28, 2023
H.R. 1159 would extend requirements under current law for the Department of State to periodically review its guidance governing U.S. relations with Taiwan and to report to the Congress on its actions. On the basis of information about similar reporting requirements, CBO estimates that implementing the bill would cost less than $500,000 over the 2023-2028 period. Such spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
