H.R. 8153 would require the Department of State to assess and report to the Congress on the resources and activities that are necessary to advance U.S. national security and achieve other policy objectives in the Indo-Pacific region. On the basis of information about the cost to prepare similar reports, CBO estimates that satisfying the bill’s reporting requirement would cost less than $500,000 over the 2022-2027 period. Such spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
