S. 4007 would require the Department of Justice to report to the Congress on potential programs for public safety officers and public safety telecommunicators that provide treatment for job related post-traumatic stress disorder or acute stress disorder. The report also would include draft legislative language for potential programs and their estimated costs. Finally, the bill would require the report to be submitted 150 days after enactment.
Using information about the cost of similar reports, CBO estimates that the cost to implement the bill would be insignificant; any spending would be subject to the availability of appropriated funds.
