H. J. Res 76, Providing for Congressional disapproval under chapter 8 of title 5, United States Code, of the rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to “Borrower Defense Institutional Accountability”
Cost Estimate
As passed by the House of Representatives on January 16, 2020
H.J. Res. 76 would disapprove the final rule submitted by the Department of Education relating to "Student Assistance General Provisions, Federal Family Education Loan Program, and William D. Ford Direct Loan Program" (84 CFR 49788, September 23, 2019). The resolution would repeal the final rules related to discharges of loans for borrower defense to loan repayment and other circumstances and prohibit reissuing similar rules in the future. The estimated costs reflect increases in direct spending in the federal student loan program.
