S. 1608 would require the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to publish a report that provides physical activity recommendations for people of the United States. The report would be published by December 2028; subsequent reports would be published five years after the first publication and then decennially thereafter.
Based on historical spending for similar activities, CBO estimates that implementing the legislation would cost $10 million over the 2020-2024 period, assuming availability of appropriated amounts. On average, the equivalent of about 12 full-time employees would be required each year over the 2020-2024 period to complete the report.
