CBO’s 2018 Long-Term Projections for Social Security: Additional Information

In lieu of publishing a separate report providing additional information on the agency’s long-term projections for Social Security, CBO is publishing the data that it would have presented in that report.
In recent years, CBO has published long-term projections for Social Security in the Long-Term Budget Outlook and then provided additional information on those projections in a subsequent, separate report (for example, see Long-Term Projections for Social Security: Additional Information). As the agency did last year, CBO this year is not publishing that separate report but is publishing the data that it would have presented.
The analysis was prepared by Stephanie Hugie Barello, Marina Miller, Xiaotong Niu, Charles Pineles-Mark, Ricci Reber, and Michael Simpson of CBO’s Long-Term Analysis Unit, with guidance from Julie Topoleski and David Weaver. Jimmy Chin and Charles Pineles-Mark prepared the supplemental data file.
