Telecommunications

The federal government plays a number of roles in the telecommunications industry. It provides for the leasing or sale of parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. It regulates access to and content of information that travels over telecommunications infrastructure and the airwaves. And it uses telecommunications technology for everything from deploying the nation's military to coordinating disaster relief.
