Disaster Relief

In the wake of large-scale natural or human-caused disasters, the federal government provides support for both emergency response services and for economic recovery. Most such support is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and by the Small Business Administration, although the government also offers insurance against some disaster losses and supports efforts to prepare for disasters and to reduce their effects. CBO analyzes those policies.
