I am honored to be appointed to a second term as Director of the Congressional Budget Office and excited to continue the important work that I have been part of these past four years.

CBO is an extraordinary organization, staffed with knowledgeable professionals who are deeply committed to producing high-quality, objective analysis in support of the Congress. It is a privilege to serve and a pleasure to work with such talented colleagues as we carry out CBO’s mission.

Thank you to Speaker McCarthy and President pro tempore Murray for reappointing me as Director.

I am grateful to Budget Committee Chairs Arrington and Whitehouse and Ranking Members Boyle and Grassley for their support and guidance.

I am keenly aware that CBO must continue to meet the standard set by founding Director Alice Rivlin for the agency to provide objective, impartial analyses in support of the Congress and on behalf of the American people. In doing so, all of us at CBO will continue to strive to ensure that the agency is responsive to the needs of the Congress and that our work is clearly explained and easily understood. I look forward to meeting those challenges in the coming years.

Phillip L. Swagel is CBO’s Director.
