The Congressional Budget Office will release An Update to the Budget Outlook: 2020 to 2030 on Wednesday, September 2, at 2:00 p.m. The report will contain CBO’s latest baseline budget projections, which will be based on the economic projections that the agency released in July and will incorporate legislation enacted through August 4. A separate report detailing CBO’s projections for federal trust funds will also be released that day.

Later in September, CBO will release two more reports presenting its budget projections. The 2020 Long-Term Budget Outlook, which will be published on September 21, will provide projections of federal spending, revenues, deficits, and debt for the next 30 years if current laws generally do not change. Those projections will be consistent with CBO’s latest baseline budget and economic projections.

On September 29, CBO will release Federal Subsidies for Health Insurance Coverage for People Under Age 65: 2020 to 2030. The report will provide estimates of the federal costs associated with each kind of subsidy, including the government’s spending for various programs, such as Medicare and Medicaid, and forgone revenues resulting from various tax preferences for health insurance, such as the tax exclusion for employment-based coverage.
