Today I am pleased to announce the members of a new technical review panel that will provide feedback on the next generation of CBO’s health insurance simulation model, which is being developed and tested. CBO uses the model to generate estimates of health insurance coverage and premiums for the population under age 65 and as part of a process to analyze proposed changes in policies that affect health insurance coverage. The next generation of the model will incorporate new data into early stages of the modeling process, better account for consumers’ selection of types of insurance plans and for employers’ decisions, and allow easier simulation of new insurance products. The panel is composed of the following experts:

  • Roger Feldman
  • Matthew Fiedler
  • Craig Garthwaite
  • Sherry Glied
  • Gautam Gowrisankaran
  • Kate Ho
  • Mark Shepard
  • Mark Showalter
  • Robert Town
  • Cori Uccello

Members of the panel have been selected to provide a variety of technical perspectives. The panelists’ academic affiliations are shown on CBO’s website. CBO requires panelists to disclose to the agency any substantial political activity in which they may be involved and any significant financial interests they may have.

Keith Hall is CBO’s Director.
