As ordered reported by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on July 23, 2014
S. 531 would require the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to publish reports that provide physical activity recommendations for Americans. The bill would require the Secretary to publish the first report by 2018 and to update the report periodically thereafter. HHS published its first set of physical activity guidelines in 2008 and issued another report in 2013. S. 531 would codify current reporting practices; thus, CBO estimates implementing the bill would not significantly affect spending by federal agencies.
Enacting S. 531 would not affect direct spending or revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.
S. 531 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would not affect the budgets of state, local, or tribal governments.
