As ordered reported by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs
on June 26, 2014
H.R. 4347 would require the Department of State to report to the Congress on the status of Christian places of worship and affiliated properties in Turkey and northern Cyprus that are claimed as stolen or confiscated. The bill would require one report within six months of the bill’s enactment and additional reports every year through 2021. CBO estimates that implementing those reporting requirements would cost less than $500,000 over the 2015-2019 period, assuming the availability of appropriated funds.
Enacting the bill would not affect direct spending or revenues; therefore, pay-as-you-go procedures do not apply.
H.R. 4347 contains no intergovernmental or private-sector mandates as defined in the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act and would not affect the budgets of state, local, or tribal governments.
