As ordered reported by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform on May 21, 2014
H.R. 4671 would extend through calendar year 2017 the authorization for the Public Interest Declassification Board (PIDB), which is set to expire on December 31, 2014. The board advises the President on the government’s standards and procedures for releasing and declassifying information. The bill also would require the PIDB to prepare two reports, one assessing the progress federal agencies have made implementing the board’s recommendations for improving the federal security classification system and another report providing additional recommendations for improving the system.
