Use this menu to filter CBO's publications by topic. From January 2011 forward, all the agency's products are categorized by topic. Cost estimates released prior to the 112th Congress are not categorized by topic. Selecting a subtopic affords more precision when limiting the publication results.
subtopic
Use this menu to filter CBO's publications by subtopic. A topic will contain all the items in the topic area, including any items listed in one of its subtopics. Some topics do not have subtopics.
congressional session
Use this menu to filter CBO's publications by Congressional session. New Congressional sessions begin in January of odd-numbered years and last for two years. The Congressional session (the 112th) began in January 2011.
publication type
Use this menu to filter CBO's publications by type of publication. If you know that you are searching for a cost estimate or a presentation or a testimony (for example), you can limit your results to those publication types. Most users will leave this set to all.
publication format
Use this menu to filter CBO's publications by publication format. At present, almost all of the agency's publications are text. Most users will leave this set to all.
budget function
Use this menu to filter CBO's cost estimates by budget function. Only cost estimates are sorted by budget function. The agency's reports, testimonies, presentations, and working papers are sorted by topic, subtopic, Congressional session, and publication type and format.
budget function and revenue effects
Use this menu to filter CBO's cost estimates by budget function. Selecting '050 national defense', for example, will limit your results to legislation that would affect the national defense category of the budget. You can also use menu to select cost estimates with revenue effects greater than or less than $500,000.
committees
Use this menu to filter CBO's cost estimates by the originating committee. Selecting 'House Agriculture', for example, will limit your results to legislation that originated in the House Committee for Agriculture.
